About
Welcome to Speakers Corner Ale House, a true gem nestled in the heart of Browns Bay, Auckland, at 7 Anzac Road. This charming pub stands out among the myriad of bars in the area, offering not just a great selection of beers but a unique atmosphere that resonates with both locals and visitors alike. With a reputation built on friendly service and hearty, well-portioned food, it’s no surprise that patrons rave about their experiences here.
One of the highlights of Speakers Corner is its delightful menu, which offers a variety of satisfying light lunches. From seafood chowder to duck bao buns, and classic favorites like fish and chips, there’s something to please every palate. Many guests have sung praises about the generous servings—Chris Crawley, a loyal customer, notably mentions the "propa decent bit of food” and massive portions, particularly highlighting the hake and chips.
Every week, the pub features dinner specials that entice regulars to return. Jane Bennett shared her delight in experiencing a fantastic Thursday deal— a 500-gram steak for just $20. Though her boyfriend wished he’d ordered it medium rare, her enjoyment of the lively atmosphere and the cheerful buzz of the crowd speaks volumes of the pub's charm.
The welcoming environment at Speakers Corner is undeniable. With glowing reviews about the friendly staff and the strong sense of community, many have formed lasting connections with both the bar team and fellow patrons. Subhasree Padhi, a frequent visitor, appreciates the warmth extended by the staff, regardless of how many of them rotate over time. This feeling of familiarity creates a second home vibe that keeps guests coming back.
Moreover, for those who appreciate a good drink, the pub's selection includes everything from Stella Artois on tap to a diverse range of other beers and guest taps. Hugh Piper and Nicholas Baughan both emphasize the excellent customer service and the clean, inviting bar area, making it a perfect spot for a laid-back evening filled with laughter and camaraderie.
Whether you’re in the mood for a serene afternoon overlooking the ocean or a lively night out while catching a big game, Speakers Corner Ale House adapts beautifully. As Polina Artiushkina mentioned, it’s a wonderful place to watch rugby or simply enjoy the good vibes with friends. The English pub style adds to its character, making it not only a place to eat and drink but also a venue to create memories.
In conclusion, Speakers Corner Ale House is more than just a place to grab a bite or a drink. It is a community hub where stories are shared, new friendships are forged, and where the food and atmosphere blend harmoniously to create a memorable dining experience. Don't miss the opportunity to visit; you might just find your new favorite spot in Auckland!
“ Great place, loads of bars in browns bay but this one has a bit of character and the prices are the best around . Really nice friendly staff. Propa decent bit of food and portions are massive especially the hake and chips I think. If your just passing through I honestly recommend coming here for few beers and food. ”
“ Great pub experience. Come for the weekly dinner specials! We came on a Thursday so my boyfriend could have the 500gram steak for 20. What a bargain! He ordered it medium and had a little regret for not choosing medium rare as it was a tad dry - but he was otherwise really happy with the meal. There's always a nive buzz in the place with plenty of people having a good time. I love how efficient they are with their ordering system as well ”
